Excerpt for Sickness And What The Bible Says About Sickness. You Can Claim A Healing! by , available in its entirety at Smashwords

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Introduction

Many Christians tend to claim that sickness is a normal part of life. It is not! Jesus came to this world to heal us in every possible way - to heal the sicknesses of our body, heart, mind, soul and spirit.

He came to release us from the vicious circle of sin and death so that we will have Eternal Life, a Life of abundance granted through His free gift of Salvation.

Matthew 8:17- That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, “Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”

Note that Jesus took our sicknesses and bore our diseases! So, we should not listen to the lies of satan that we Christians are to remain sick and endure endless sufferings. Do not add or remove to His words but follow what is said in the Bible.

Many Christians contend that persecutions will be a part of Christian life. Where in the Bible does it say that sickness is a kind of persecution? We are not preaching Health, Wealth and Prosperity Gospel here. Our aim is to help people understand that they have the choice and also the right to be free of sicknesses.

1. Heal The Sick! -Jesus

Jesus Came To Save Us From Sins, Sicknesses, Miseries and all kinds of Misfortunes!

Matthew 8:17(KJV)

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

He came to take our sicknesses and our diseases. Isn't that clear enough to show that our Lord wants to heal us? Isn't that enough proof to make us feel hopeful? Why trust in the lies of the devil? Why trust that moron devil who says through the false preachers that sickness is a normal part of life? Of course, the Bible says that we will suffer for God and will be persecuted. But where does it say that we will suffer for God by being sick? That's wrong preaching. The case of Job is discussed in the relevant chapter.

Now if you are confused by what you read here (our preaching clashes with what you might have heard from others) just close your eyes and pray to God asking Him to help you understand what the truth is. Then continue to read with an open, unbiased mind so that the verses shared here will help you in understanding that you have a right to be healed in the name of Jesus.

It is not too late to claim your healing from the Lord!

2. Repentance - The First Step Towards Healing!

The very first step towards healing is Repentance. Often, we sin in various ways. Though we may not agree that we have sinned through our intentional and unintentional sins, or negligence and ignorance, our agreement or disagreement doesn't mean anything to satan and his demons who gain entry into our lives through the doors we open through our sins. They cause havoc because we have empowered them to do so- by our sins.

But then... is it the end? NO!! You can repent and chase them out!

All we need to do is repent and return to the ways of Life. The sickness will disappear! It may not be easy for people who suffer from sickness caused by bonds, strongholds, addictions and obsessions. It will be a battle, I agree! You can fight it with God's help! We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. He loves you and He will help you!

We must battle our weaknesses of the flesh and come out of them in order to avoid the battle with diseases. It may seem impossible but both of those battles can happen in no time-with God’s grace! Nothing is impossible for him!

When you are under a spiritual warfare and feel drained ask Him for help and He will help. Ask Him for grace to overcome sins and He will show race. Ask Him for healing and He will definitely heal you.

3. Proof For Sickness Caused By Sins- The Man At The Pool.

At the pool of Bethesda, Jesus comes across a sick man, a man lying on a sleeping mat for 38 years. When I think of him I just can't help wondering, “In what condition was he brought there? Where are the people who brought him there? Who fed him (the Jews are generous towards their people)? Who cleaned him (some kind-hearted volunteers)? Who was his companion to talk? Who comforted him? How lonely was he? How was his state of mind from being bedridden for 38 years? How depressed was he? Did he cry every day? How were his nights? What was his hope based on?”

Nobody was there to get him to the pool right after the movement of the water! Do you understand the level of desperation and hopelessness he was in?! Can you imagine the grief, anger, bitterness & resentment he would have harbored in his heart and mind? Then Jesus came along and healed him! And the man jumped up, rolled up his sleeping mat and walked away!

John 5:5

And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

Here Jesus heals the man who was sick for 38 years! And Jesus doesn't stop with that. He tells him NOT to sin any more. And adds about something even more worse happening if he continues to sin.

John 5:14

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

The man was advised to NOT sin anymore in order to avoid something "worse" happening to him. Who said it? Jesus! When bad things are happening to us, let us always remember to reflect on why it happened and repent before something worse happens to us.

No matter how bad your situation is, there is still hope.

4. Jesus At Capernaum Healing The Man With Palsy.

I would like to share another example to help us understand, how at times, the sicknesses are caused by the sins. At Capernaum Jesus was preaching in a house and a man with palsy was brought in. Jesus forgave his sins (the root cause of his sickness) and healed him of his medical condition. Is there a need for any further proof to show that our sins will bring sickness upon us?

Mark 2:1-12

And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

Jesus told him that his sins were forgiven… he said that right before He healed the sick man! Why would Jesus say that? Why didn’t He just heal the man? It is because of the fact that the man’s sickness was caused by his sins and also to inform us what sins will do to us.

The sins we commit will always open doors to satan and his demons. They gain entry through such open doors after which they torment and torture us in various ways. Jesus healed the man; He forgave his sins. In effect he chased the demons out and healed him. He didn’t do just that.

Jesus talked about forgiving his sins- to make it a reminder to the man, others present there and for us… to educate us about the consequences of sinning.

There are few exceptional circumstances when our sicknesses are not caused by sins. We will see it in the next chapter.

5. What Happened In Job's Case? Why Did He Fall Sick?

In the very first chapter of the Book of Job, you will come across the conversations between God and the devil. Many people quote Job's case without having a clue about what it means. In order to fall sick, there must be a door or multiple doors opened for satan and his demons to enter.

The satan mentions to God about the protective hedge which kept Job safe from all possible attacks of satan. God had to give permission and take away His protection from certain areas of Job’s life in order to allow satan to torment him.

Job 1: 10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

Satan replied that God had the protective hedge around Job and everything related to Job which prevented him from causing harm. Why did God put a protective hedge around Job? Bible says that Job was a righteous man! God put the hedge around Job and everything he had. Job didn’t do anything to disturb it and leave even a hole… which would act as a door for the satan and his demons to gain entry. This will show how satan and his demons cannot torment us unless we empower them through our sins.

In Job's case, it was NOT SIN that caused his sickness. God deliberately took His protection off of Job to a “certain extent” to allow the satan and his demons to bring poverty, sicknesses, misery and misfortunes upon him.

Job didn’t deserve it! Yet He suffered for God's glory!

We are all sinners in some form or the other. But Jesus has imputed His righteousness for us. God has already sent His Only Son as a worthy sacrifice for our sins. We are His children! We can repent to our Father and claim healing and deliverance from our sufferings in the name of Jesus.

6. John 9: Jesus Heals The Man Who Was Born Blind!

Does God allow us to suffer even when we don't sin? Yes! He allows us to undergo sufferings of various kinds like sicknesses, financial troubles, family problems, etc., for His glory or for some greater good. In the Gospel of John, chapter 9, when the disciples asked Jesus what caused the man to be born blind, Jesus replies that he was born blind not because of his sins or the sins of his parents, but to bring glory to God! And He healed the man.

John 9

1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Kindly notice how the blind man was born blind just for God’s glory! His plans are greater than our plans and His ways are greater than our ways. Do not despair when your sufferings seems to be undeserved. Even in that situation it is okay to ask our Father for healing. Your testimony will save others!

7. Reasons For Sicknesses, Diseases, Weaknesses and Deficiencies.

What’s the reason behind sicknesses, diseases, weaknesses and deficiencies? People fall sick because of three reasons:

1) Sins!

a) The Sins mentioned in The Commandments and in The Bible.

-Intentional sins

-Unintentional sins

b) At times we don't realize that our attitude and personality cause us to sin terribly though it "appears" harmless. Examples are:

-Negligence

-Foolishness

-Ignorance

-Laziness & lethargy

2) For God's glory!

Examples: Blind man from John 9 & Job!

3) For Our Own Good!

To learn the lessons we ought to know before He sends His great blessings upon us! Without those lessons the blessings He plans to give us will attract dangers. When we learn our lessons, the sufferings will stop and blessings will be showered upon us (and the lessons we learnt during our struggles will prevent the blessings from attracting dangers).

8. The Connection Established

God never tempts us. God wants us to overcome temptation. He wants us to flee when we are tempted by the Devil. When a person fails to flee a temptation, overcoming becomes impossible. Lust is conceived and results in sin and sin in turn brings death!

James 1

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

This part of Scripture explains the vicious circle of sin and death so beautifully! God will not give more than what you can bear. He will make a way out of every temptation if we seek His help in overcoming them.

1 Corinthians 10:13

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Remember:

Temptation → Not Fleeing from Sin→ Lust→ Sin→ Death!

9. Negligence Is A Sin! How?

Negligence is a sin. Ignorance which gives way to negligence is also a sin. (Or it is something found only in sinners for the Book of Proverbs uses the words fools and sinners/evil men interchangeably)! Many people fall sick by embracing an unhealthy lifestyle. Not taking care of our health is also a sin.

Proverbs emphasize in many places that Wisdom is given to those who trust in the Lord and states how Wisdom gives a long life and good health.

Proverbs 3:16

Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

If we use commonsense it would tell how eating healthy and staying fit are something important to avoid diseases (which is in line with what most wellness experts advise us to do).

Isn't it our responsibility to take care of our health? Isn't it a sin to not do our duty? If negligence is not a sin, the laws wouldn't include it in its clauses and impose punishments in the form of fine and/or imprisonment for negligence ranging from corporate negligence to drunk driving.

Think! Negligence is a sin. Negligence causes accidents. Negligence causes trouble. Negligence kills! So it’s definitely a sinful attitude even by heathen standards.

Christians cannot afford to be negligent.

10. God Punishing The Pharaoh For Unintentional Sins!

God punishes us for both intentional sins and unintentional sins. The severity of punishment in case of unintentional sins is slightly lesser than the intentional sins, but we have to repent anyway. When calamity strikes, ask God to reveal why the suffering has come, and He will show it to you in some form so as to enable you to repent. Then honestly repent and come out of it. That’s what God wants us to do- to leave our wicked ways and walk in His narrow path towards Heaven.

In Genesis, we can see how God punishes the Pharaoh though he committed an unintentional sin. When Abraham and Sarah were in Egypt, God brought plague upon the Pharaoh for the sin of taking Abraham's wife. The king didn't know the fact that she was Abraham’s wife. The following verse makes it clear that God brought PLAGUE upon Pharaoh as in Genesis though the king was misinformed and there was an honest misunderstanding on his part.

Genesis 12:17 And the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.

The story as stated in Genesis 12: 10-19:

And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land. And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee. And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels. And the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife. And Pharaoh called Abram and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife? Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.

That’s intense! Often we find fake Christians who deliberately sin and claim that they “didn’t know” or “wasn’t aware” of the real situation and that they would have acted differently if they had known the truth. Stay away from such liars as they are in satan’s territory. They forget the fact that God knows what is there in our hearts. We may claim anything that pops up in our head but He looks at our motives.

Proverbs 16:2

All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

In this situation Abraham lied out of fear (which was a lie about which he would have repented) but the Pharaoh’s house was plagued for what he did! If a man committing an unintentional sin cannot escape punishment, think about those who deliberately sin and pretend to not know.

Ask God to reveal your intentional and unintentional sins so that you can change your attitude r ways. Repent for what is revealed. If you don’t remember, it’s okay too. Do not worry. He knows! Ask God to forgive your sins and help you to stay strong while facing temptations.

11. The Proof Of Sins Bringing Wars, Famines, Sicknesses, Miseries & Misfortunes!

In this chapter I want to provide few Bible verses where it is shown that God sends all kinds of troubles and sickness when we sin.

Exodus 15: 26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

Isaiah 59:2 Your offenses are causing a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you.

In Deuteronomy God warns about the consequences of sins. It is NOT a question of Law. By keeping the commandments and statutes, people will be walking closer to God, avoiding sins and temptations.

Deuteronomy 28: 15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

Deuteronomy 28: 20 The Lord shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.

Deuteronomy 28: 58-61 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, The Lord Thy God; Then the Lord will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

Mockers Special: When Aaron and Miriam mocked Moses and his wife, God punished them instantly. Punishments are something meant for chastening us to help us repent and return to the ways of life.

Numbers 12 : 9, 10 9 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.

12. Sickness Is Just One Of The Various Kinds Of Punishments!

In Old Testament you can come across many instances when God sent plagues, calamities, wars and disasters upon His people WHENEVER they sinned against Him. When they repented, He healed and stopped His punishments. Sadly, they continued to rebel against Him over and over again.

In 2 Samuel 24, David took a census which angered the Lord. God gave David three choices of punishment, viz. three years of famine, three months of fleeing before his enemies, or three days of plague. David opted for three days of plague. There is wide array of punishments.

13. Hope This Helped!

The things happening to us are NOT random events. And s**t does NOT happen to anyone. And it is NOT normal part of life to be sick. Everything is planned and nothing is random. Nothing is beyond His control. GOD IS IN CONTROL OF EVERYTHING. He is in control of EVERY single thing and he watches over everything and everyone. He has power and sovereignty over everything! Things don’t happen randomly and not without a reason! NEVER!

He allows bad things when we sin so that we can repent and return to Him.

He allows bad things when we don't sin so that we will be used for His glory!

God is not like thoughtless, careless human to allow random things to happen. That is a mindset of an atheist! That is not the attitude of a Christian for we have hope in Christ! Our God is not a random God! He plans! He is strategic!

The satan cannot touch us, our people and our things for God protects us and everything related to us just like He protected Job and everything related to Job. Sadly, when we allow evil to enter our lives by opening a door to him… cracking that protective hedge of God through our sins... then satan and his demons gain entry.

SHUT THE DOOR!

SHUT THE GAPS IN THE PROTECTIVE HEDGE!

YOU ARE NOT BORN TO SUFFER!

SICKNESS IS NOT A FORM OF PERSECUTION!!

When you realize that the sufferings are due to the sins, repent! Restoration is immediate! But if God allows you to suffer for His glory, pray and persevere like Job! If you see that the suffering phase is for some edification or lesson or training, praise Him for the blessings that He is going to shower upon you once the suffering phase is over.

Remember that it is NOT okay to be sick. You can always ask for a healing. Sickness is NOT persecution that Christians will undergo. He wants us to be of good health. If any of you need further help about receiving a healing, please leave a comment.

When in doubt, read the Bible and pray. Do not follow false prophets and fake preachers in sheep’s clothing who confuse you but instead listen to God’s words. Read the Bible regularly.

Claim a healing now!

Let’s pray in agreement… when you pray please remember that we’ll be praying in agreement. Not just our team members but there are thousands of Christians praying for fellow Christians every moment. We are never alone! We have God.

When you pray God sets things in motion. His Angels go to work. God is the Healer. He forgives. He is merciful. He repairs us and makes us better than we used to be. He allows us to undergo troubles and sickness but He will deliver us with a great deliverance.

We pray and declare that you are healed, strengthened, restored and rejuvenated. In Jesus’ name! AMEN!
